The Tana River Festival is Kenya first ever whitewater kayaking festival. The third annual event will take place on the Tana River, in Central Kenya.
The festival aims to bring together the East African and International whitewater community for a weekend of fun and challenging competitions on Kenya’s most famous river. The festival hopes to increase the participation of Kenyans in the sport, while encouraging international paddlers to come to Kenya to experience the world-class whitewater.
Activities include:
5km Slalom course placed down the infamous ‘Orgasmic Spasm’ rapid, adjacent to the Mission, Including a boof over the sticky drop ‘St. Joseph’, challenging moves to reach gates on a steep, rocky rapids. Event requires participants to complete three runs, best time wins.
5 km Mountain biking challenge

Camping & meals
All meals are included. Camping is at the Savage Wilderness Campsite in two man tents sharing.

Day 1:
Pick up at 6:00 am in Westlands for a prompt departure at 6:30 am. Drive for approximately 2hrs and arrive in time for registration which will take place from 9.30 am to 10.30 am. Briefing will take place between 10.30 and 11.00 pm Event will begin from 11.00 pm. Prize giving will follow immediately after the event at approx 6.00 pm. Bonfire and campfire music from 7pm.

Day 2:
Registration for the all round challenge (Run, Bike and Duckie) will take place from 9.00 am to 10.00 am. The Event will run from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm Prize giving will follow immediately after the event at approx 12.30 pm. We shall head back to Nairobi at 2pm, arrival in Westlands at approximately 6.00 pm.
